Summary/Objective

The Head of Program is responsible for overseeing the administration of two significant programs within the Mindful Schools training department - the Mindful Teacher Certification Program (MTCP) and the Schoolwide Implementation Program (SWIP).  

To function in this role, the Head of Program must be an experienced practitioner and teacher of mindfulness to both adults and children, have experience in education and knowledge of school systems, have experience with leading online learning, be skillful at project management, and be a detailed and efficient collaborator who can work with colleagues across teams to achieve the organization’s goals.

This is an on-site full-time position in our Emeryville office. This role reports to the Director of Training. 

We are committed to creating a team of collaborators with diverse experiences and expertise with the ability to speak to different topics, different settings, different age levels, and who have experience with deep practice.

Essential Functions

Coordination of the Mindful Teacher Certification Program~14 Hours/week

MT: Current Year

  • Email Correspondence with Participants and Faculty 

  • Manage Guest Speakers Program

  • Upload Weekly Video Recordings, Chats, and Files

  • Weekly Info Emails for Participants 

  • Cohort Switches

  • Collaborate with Guidance around Cancellations/Transfers

MT: Upcoming Year

  • Supervise Entirety of the Launch Process

  • Support Messaging about the Program (such as informational videos and FAQs)

  • Participate Retreat Planning and Coordination 

  • Applications

  • Admissions

  • Scholarships

  • Supervise Course Completion Process

  • Email Correspondence with Participants as Needed

  • Lead the Practicum Process (in collaboration with the Head of Community)

Coordination of the Schoolwide Mindfulness Program~22 Hours/week

Grant Administration

  • Coach role: Weekly coordination with Mentors (weekly calls with mentors for support, alignment, and accountability)

  • Support the Growth Team with grant reports and applications 

  • Direct Program Support as Needed

School Implementation Clinic

  • Host monthly SIC workshop calls

  • Answer questions by program participants

  • Support course maintenance with Guidance team

School-Wide Implementation Program (SWIP)

  • Support with course creation and ongoing maintenance

  • Provide direct support and coordination to the Lead Teacher(s) of SWIP

Travel

Domestic travel will be required to host up to four of our annual retreats and to occasionally attend meetings, trainings, and conferences.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills 

  • Experience teaching mindfulness to youth in school/institutional settings

  • Experience facilitating adult learning

  • Experience teaching TK-12 students in a classroom environment

  • Experience providing constructive feedback in a positive and supportive way

  • Facility with using electronic media, including conducting meetings on an online platform (Zoom)

  • Written and verbal fluency in English 

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills 

  • Commitment to regular mindfulness practice including retreat attendance

  • Completion of Mindful Schools’ Mindfulness Fundamentals and Mindfulness Educator Essentials course (or comparable coursework)

  • Experience facilitating online learning; teacher observation/feedback (not necessarily in schools).

  • Experience leading mindfulness practice with adults

  • Experience leading mindfulness retreats

  • Experience leading professional development for educators or other adults
